Where did you grow up?
NP- I grew up in San Diego and I now live in Los Angeles
Are there other photographers in your family?
NP- Nope I claim that title for now tell boogies kid takes
over haha
What made you choose to pick up a camera?
NP- It all really started on fishing trips with my dad he
had a Polaroid camera that I used to snap photos of him with the fish he
caught, later down the road my mom gave me her old Minolta Film camera which
opened my eyes to a new world.
In that "New World", what kinds of things were you interested
in photographing?
NP- So many things, it really started out with landscapes,
then I got into photographing people from there I started shooting a lot of
fashion and portraits mixed with some lifestyle images.
Why did you choose photography?
NP- Good question, however I did not choose photography I
never once thought I would be where I am at today. I never thought such a thing
could turn into a profession, photography choose me its a weird thing but it
just kind of fell in my lap like 'this is what your meant to do'.
What would you consider your style of photography?
NP- I don’t really classify my self as one style or another
I just love creating and capturing whatever project I am working on.
Have you always used digital?
NP- Actually, I started out with a film camera. I loved
everything about film. It made me learn a lot about lighting and film speeds.
Later on I moved to digital for the fact that things needed to be done
faster. I started getting clients who needed photos done within a week or
even a couple days, the cliental started wanting CDs of photos, not prints.
That is why I switched over to digital.
What interests you most about being a Photographer?
NP- The people definitely, I get to work with a lot of
amazing talented people and traveling seeing new places.
What do you consider photography to be? A job? A hobby? Or something
else?
NP- My Life
If you could choose to live and work anywhere in the world where
would it be?
NP- Well I live in Los Angeles I cant really ask for any
better place but I think NY would be fun for a while
What are your hobbies besides photography?
NP- Hanging out with friends, surfing, traveling
Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
NP- In 20 years, I don't know maybe I will be traveling
around the world working for various magazines and clients, one can not tell
what will happen in 20 years or even 5, I just hope to be doing what I love,
meeting new people and seeing the world.
More specifically... what catches your eye in someone? Is it the way
they look or the environment behind them?
NP- I think its the way they present them self and the facial
expression/feeling you get when you tell them to think about one thing or
another to create that image.
It sounds like you're interested in a challenge... what inspires you?
NP- Family….. Life ….. meeting new people, hearing different
stories of peoples lives, creative people with dreams and goals, people who
see what your trying to do and want to become a part of it.
Is there a goal you would like to reach with your photography, a
dream maybe or person you would like to someday work with?
NP- Being able to share such a talent with so many people
who love what I do is a dream in itself. I think to have your photography/art
live on long after you pass away would be the most accomplished goal ever.
Well, sounds like you'll get far and your hard work will pay off...
Is there anything more you can say to your readers about your work?
NP- Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this, if
you have any questions about my work, want to book a photo shoot or even
would like to leave me comments, I would love to hear it. info@nick-pinto.com
